Accumin acquires energy and sustainability consultancy Zero Consulting

5 noviembre, 2024

Accumin, one of the world’s largest independent real estate consultancies with a presence in 14 countries and in Spain with companies such as Tinsa, Deyde DataCentric and urbanData Analytics, has acquired the energy and sustainability consultancy Zero Consulting.

With offices in Barcelona and Madrid, Zero Consulting specialises in sustainability consultancy for real estate development projects (design, simulation and parameterisation using BIM technology, circularity and carbon footprint) and the management of low-energy buildings with sustainable consumption, as well as consultancy for the certification of LEED, WELL, DGNB, BREEAM and VERDE projects (measurement and certification).

Although it operates mainly in Spain, Zero Consulting has begun to internationalise its activities, with projects in Europe, Latin America and the Middle East.

In this way, Accumin is extending the scope of its energy services in sustainable certification with an international character, in the sustainability analysis at the origin of new construction projects and in the study of projects, as well as in the study and improvement of the energy performance of buildings and their life cycle.

Sustainability is one of Accumin’s strategic growth areas, an expertise that is present in all three of its business verticals: Value & Advisory, Intelligence & Software and Risk Management. In recent years, Accumin has positioned itself as one of the leading companies in this field, both in energy efficiency certification in Spain and Germany, as well as in energy efficiency and natural and climate risk data for many European financial institutions.

In Spain, Deyde DataCentric by Accumin, a company of the group specialised in data and integrated in Accumin Intelligence, has been selected by the Spanish Ministry of Ecology to provide its services to the Ministry of Environment for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITERD) to design, build and validate a unified database of energy certificates at national level. A project that will make it possible to advance the objective of improving the efficiency of the housing stock by providing greater security  and accuracy in the information required for the effective design of public policies and the promotion of private initiatives.

The technological capabilities of Accumin Intelligence are supported by the knowledge of energy consultancy and the housing market of Tinsa España through Accumin, the country’s largest real estate valuation company, which has issued more than 110,000 energy efficiency certificates since they became mandatory for buying or renting a property.
As a refurbishment agent through Agentia R+, a joint venture with the Acerta Group, Accumin’s Tinsa España has helped thousands of people to obtain Energy Performance Certificates for their homes, enabling them to benefit from Next Generation Fund grants totalling 7.8 million euros for efficiency improvements that have reduced their cooling and heating needs by an average of 7%.

“We are delighted to add Zero Consulting’s expertise to our family. With their help, we are adding new capabilities to provide 360º coverage of sustainability applied to real estate assets. The sum of knowledge and diverse perspectives under the global Accumin brand makes us the best partner to guide citizens, companies, the financial sector and public administration in promoting efficient and sustainable buildings and urban environments,” said James Cornell, global CEO of Accumin.

Artur García, CEO of Zero Consulting, said: “Joining forces with Accumin is a new challenge that will allow us to offer our sustainability consulting services to a larger portfolio of clients and in geographic areas where we are not yet present. Professionally, for the entire Zero Consulting team, it is a great opportunity for growth and consolidation that will help us to contribute our know-how in sustainability consulting and to offer our own software tools, developed for sustainability consulting and design of nZEB buildings, to a much larger number of clients”.
